Eight people from Astcote spent a relaxing weekend enjoying the delights of the Derbyshire countryside staying for the weekend at Cliff College at the end of March. Once settled into our comfortable accommodation and having eaten tasty supper in the refectory, we spent an evening of fellowship piecing together jigsaws, singing and making music chatting and listening to music in the splendour of our Victorian sitting room.
Bright and early on Saturday morning the majority of us took an energetic stroll up
and along Eroggatts Edge. We were rewarded by magnificent views of the Derwent
Valley. Glayne joined us for lunch and afterwards lead us in reflective quiet time
and sharing in worship. Our evening was spent in a similar way to Friday with the
addition of some craft activities. The jigsaw puzzlers made considerable progress!
Sunday morning, after a short walk to Calver we joined the local chapel for a very
friendly, lively service at which we were made very welcome. After yet more food,
we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways sure in the knowledge that we hope
to do it again and in the not too distant future.
